Our beekeeping visits are the heart of your Alvéole experience. Each visit is an opportunity for your beekeeper to care for your hive, check on your bees, and share updates with you and your community. Here's what you can expect during each visit.
A Professional Beekeeper
Your visits are carried out by a trained beekeeper familiar with your site and local conditions. They'll arrive at the scheduled time with all of the tools and materials needed to safely inspect your hive.
What Happens During the Visit
Each visit may vary depending on the season and the needs of your hive, but usually includes:
Checking the health of the bees
Your beekeeper will inspect the colony to ensure the queen is present and healthy, the population is growing, and there are no signs of disease or pests.Managing the hive environment
They'll add or remove frames or boxes to give the bees the space they need, depending on the time of year.Monitoring food and honey stores
The bees’ food supply and honey production will be assessed, especially leading up to and during the harvest season.Inspect your BeeHomes
If you have a wild Beehome on site, your beekeeper will observe this well to see if any new bees are entering or exiting, or have started nesting.Documenting the visit
After each visit, your beekeeper completes an inspection sheet, and takes photos which are posted to your MyHive page so you can follow along with the journey.
